Jim Lewis Programs and Information
   A member of many guilds and associations, Jim Lewis, a well-known professional storyteller, teacher, wooden boat builder and grandpa brings to life a rich background of telling wondrous tales of all kinds, to all ages. With his big hearted voice and friendly facial expressions, Jim captures the hearts of everyone with his eclectic catalog of stories and tall tales. There’s no avoiding being enchanted by this endearing man.

Programs and Descriptions:

Folktales for Everyone (Campfire Stories)

This program with Grandpa Jim Lewis is a collection of wonderful folk tales, tall tales, fish tails and other very funny campfire stories that have entertained and bedazzled audiences throughout Southern California for many years. Enjoy such wonderful classics as the Gunny Wolf, Grandmother Spider, The Rabbit and the Lion, The Bubble, My Grandpa Stories and more.

The Oregon Trail

Grandpa Jim Lewis as Captain William (Uncle Billy) Shaw will tell the “Sager Saga” and other events about the 1844 wagon train out of St. Joseph, Missouri, a wagon train bound for Oregon; only using material from original journals of the surviving Sager Girls and others on the train. Uncle Billy spins the story of this great “Western Adventure” about this stout hearted family and the hardships and tragedies the encountered on the trail; A wonderful tale of rising out of adversity to reach their final goal – the Promised Land of the Oregon Territory.

Ideal 4th and 5th grade program meeting California Standards in both Language Arts and Social Studies.

The Gold Rush

Grandpa Jim takes everyone on a storytelling adventure to revisit the great migration of the 1840’s & 50’s that shaped California and the United States. Included in this program will be will be: stories of the California Trail and the first wagons west in 1843; tales from the gold fields along the Sacramento; accounts of the sea voyage around the “Horn”; stories about people who came from all around the world; and how this all led to the establishment of California as a State.

Ideal 4 th and 5 th grade program meeting California Standards in both Language Arts and Social Studies.

Tales of Tricksters and Heroes

"Grandpa" Jim performs a marvelous collection of Folk Tales. The heroic characters he presents in tall tales, trickster tales, adventure tales and campfire stories reflect ageless human values and life lessons. The entore audience will love his endearing style along with a visit from their facorite grand father.

SANTA CLAUS

    Storyteller, Jim Lewis brings to life the lovable character of Santa Claus for the holiday season. His uncanny resemblance to Santa Claus has even the biggest cynic believing in miracles. Program features holiday and value stories as well as a sit down visit / photo op (with your camera) with Santa. This family program features stories like The Polar Express and Olive the Other Reindeer and is well suited for schools, libraries, bookstores, family holiday parties, city and other community events. Book early as Jim’s schedule fills up fast after August.
