Biography

Joanna Mell is now in Southern California and delighting her audiences with her lovely harp and vocal music!  She is now located to Corona, California and looks forward to serving the needs of people looking for delightful harp music, performed in her usual unique and entertaining way.

Joanna Mell makes any occasion special with her beautiful harp music.  With 22 years of experience performing on the orchestral and traditional (Celtic) harps, Joanna carefully tailors her musical selections to her clients' needs to make each special event an unforgettable one.  Her programs are entertaining and informative, perfect for libraries, school groups, social organizations and academic events.

Programs and Descriptions:

The Harp Around the World - music from all over the globe, plus singing in four languages.  Included is an exploration of the harp - how it is constructed, how it makes sounds, etc.  Audience participation is invited!  Music presented is a mix of familiar and unfamiliar pieces; singing along is encouraged.

A Thousand Years of the Harp - repertoire from ten centuries, with the history of this fascinating instrument.  Exploration of the harp, sing-along songs, familiar and unfamiliar pieces presented.

A Thousand Years of Christmas - Christmas songs and related musical selections from ten centuries, with a history of the holiday.

Christmas Around the World - hear interesting stories of customs and traditions from many different countries. Joanna sings in four languages.

A Jolly Old Christmas - learn how Christmas was celebrated in the courts of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I.

Winter fun!  Musical pieces and stories of what people around the world do for fun during the freezin' season.

Exploring the harp - how is it made?  Where did it come from?  How are sounds produced?  How has it changed over the years, and how is it unique to certain regions of the world? Lots of musical examples and a hands-on audience interaction included.
