Rodney Howard Programs and Information

Rodney Howard brings to life dances, songs and stories to life from tribes across North America. He performs in brilliant traditional regalia and puts on a display of dance from the 1400’s to modern day Pow Wows. Each song and dance performed will be explained and interpreted and put into cultural context. Dances include Grass Dance, Round Dance, Eagle Dance, Hoop Dance and more.

Rodney is one of the premier Native American Dancers on the West Coast. He has been dancing for years at cultural events, Pow Wows, theaters, theme parks and other events throughout Southern California and around the world.

Rodney

Rodney Howard is of the Maricopa Tribe from Arizona. He began dancing as part of his family’s tradition and performed professionally at the early age of 8 years old. He has performed Traditional Dances from North American Tribes at schools, libraries, fairs, festivals, theaters and Pow Wows across the United States and has also performed internationally. He began providing his program through DreamShapers in 1999 when he also got the opportunity to not only dance but to share stories, information and cultural context to audiences of students and teachers.

Programs and Descriptions:

  This program features Rodney Howard, a Maricopa, who has danced for audiences in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe and across the U.S. He is a Northern Traditional dancer who performs a variety of dances from tribes across North America. Included in his program are The Eagle Dance, The Northern Traditional War Dance and The Hoop Dance.

   Along with Rodney is Liz Whipple, Sioux, who performs a variety of unisex and women’s dances from North American Tribes. She has performed at Pow Wows, theme parks, schools and community events throughout Southern California.

  Together, Rodney and Liz, bring a cultural look at North American Tribes as seen through their Dance and Music. Their years of experience and holding to traditional values are reflected in their respect their heritage as well as for the various tribes they represent.
