KEEP IN MIND:
There are two separate applications for 2009: This Application Information is for the
Young Adult Showcase and Directory Only.
If you wish to participate in the Children's Showcase and Directory
You must fill out and submit a separate Children's application.
New Artists: Artists who have never showcased with ILS libraries before must submit the following:
If you are a New Artist we request that you also submit the following information. A brief, 1 paragraph biography of you, your program and work in libraries, schools etc.
If you are an artist with an arts organization, e.g. The Music Center, The Center for the Performing Arts, etc., please specify:_____________________________ and you do not need to provide items 1 or 2.
Choose one of the next two items to submit with your biography:
Three letters of recommendation from librarians who have seen your show (from any library district. Please mail these with check to Dream Shapers)
Or you can submit a video of your presentation (home quality is fine) for review.
NEW ARTISTS ASSISTANCE:
If you are a new artist, (having never appeared in this showcase or with limited library show experience) we suggest that you read the information on the Articles page of our web site. Many questions you have will be answered there. If after that you would like to discuss the showcase, your show, how you fit, what you should do or any other questions, you may contact one of the following information volunteers for help:
It is understood that with a submission of applications for the showcase you have read and agreed to all the following information. The Performers’ Showcase is a wonderful opportunity for performers/presenters to give a preview (approx. 5 minutes) of their programs that are appropriate for:
Children (Preschool - Grade 6)
Young Adult (Grade 7+) apply on different application
Representatives from over one hundred libraries, schools and cities will be invited to attend. Year- round programs on all themes relating to books, reading and libraries are welcome. If your program is adaptable for the 2010 Summer Reading theme for teens is: "Make waves At Your Library." Keep in mind there is a separate application for YoungAdult ("Teens").

Eligibility For Showcasing Guidelines
Some of the basic guidelines used by Dream Shapers and the Inland Library Systems for choosing artists who will perform at the showcase are:
Library Affordable Pricing. The libraries have limited budgets so priority is given to affordable programs.
Directory listing & your library presentation are the same quality, content and duration as your showcase presentation. All artists guarantee that what they list and showcase will be what the libraries will receive from them if booked for a program. Artists will not demonstrate and list one show, and present something different.
Price Guarantee. All performers guarantee that the price listed in the directory for the program offered will be held consistent for summer programs.
New Artists receive showcasing priority. However, if you are a new artist, be sure to provide all the new artist information as listed in this application.
“Tried and True” artists who did not performed on the 2009 showcase with affordable pricing
“Tried and True” artists who did not performed on the 2009 showcase but whose show markedly different from what they demonstrated the year before and not the same show recast.
Variety: we present a wide variety of programs from animals and science to storytelling, Music and Puppetry. We will place limitations on the number of artists each genre invited to showcase.
Artist Availability: artists who provide programming to all areas that the Inland Empire Library System Libraries serve are given priority over those who go to limited areas.
Artists Programming: extra considerations are given to artists who provide programs that:
Fit well with the summer reading theme
Provide programs that enhance library reading programs
Offer year round programming
Offer bilingual presentations.
Only those artists listed in the directory will be allowed to attend the showcase.
Warrantees: Your application will be processed for the directory with all care and effort. Artists are responsible for proofing their own Showcase Directory listing for accuracy when it is put up on line for review. There are no expressed or written warrantees or guarantees as to inclusion, accuracy or demonstration space given or agreed to by Dream Shapers with regards to any artist’s application, listing or showcase. All monies are non-refundable once you have been included in the directory. We will refund all monies to artists not included.

Photo to use in the directory (we will use clip art if this is not supplied)
Payment in full by the due date.
Advertising Opportunities
There will be additional advertising opportunities for inside back and front covers as well as a market place section of full page and ½ page advertisements.
These ads will be noted in each directory listing provide each artist a way to get across more detailed information about their programming.

Each artist will supply the finished advertisement.
Full page ads must be cropped to 7 x 9 ½
Half page ads must be cropped to 7 x 4 ½
Ads will be inserted at random into the back of the directory – full pages and then half page ads following.
Artists who wish to have an additional directory listing of a significantly different program (judged upon submission) in the same directory will receive 20% discount from their total directory listing price (this does not include advertising).
Video Showcase Information
We will be setting up video shoot dates for artists to showcase their programs for our online video showcase that will be promoted to all the County of Los Angeles Public Library Children’s and Young Adult Librarians.
We will be shooting on 11/16 and 12/10 from 9 to 4:00.
Location will be at 1206 W. Collins Ave, Orange, CA 92867.
If you are selected to showcase at the 2010 ILS showcase, there will be videotaping available at the showcase for posting online.
Sign up only one time for filming. Your video can be used for both ILS and County of Los Angeles Libraries.
The fee charged for videotaping includes the costs for location, camera, sound, lights and posting to Performershowcase.com with direct links to your website.
Each performer will be given set up time and 5 to 6 minutes to demonstrate your show.
Time slots on the dates above are given on a first come / first serve basis (about 5 artists per hour).
You can submit your own video footage but it will be subject to quality review before being accepted.
Videos will be posted on your choice (based on your directory listings) under both ILS 2010 showcase and County of LA 2010 showcase at performershowcase.com library through 12/2010.

Everything (checks, applications, photos, new artist information) must be postmarked by 10/15/09 to receive “Early Bird Discounts” and must be postmarked by 11/1/09 to be included in the Directory.
We will begin to post the Directory on or about 10/15/09 for you to check for any errors that may have occurred to your listing. You can visit www.dreamshapers.org/libshow for links to the listing.
If you have not received a confirmation of your application within one week of your submission please email kenf@dreamshapers.org or call (714) 771-1981 to check to be sure it has been received.
Keep in mind that mailing in your check right away helps us if an application has not been received.
BE SURE that you have filled out the application correctly.
If you wish to be part of the Young Adult Directory you must fill out a separate application.

You will receive an email or letter of confirmation that your application has been received within 1 week of submission. If you do not get this confirmation please contact Dream Shapers to be sure you application was received – kenf@dreamshapers.org or (714) 771-1981. You will receive an email by 12/5/08, informing you of your scheduled performance time, or Directory inclusion and table top availability.
