There are a number of changes to the 2010 directories, showcases and advertising opportunities for County of Los Angeles Libraries and the Inland Empire Library System. I will try to lay them out simply and clearly here for everyone to understand and so good decisions can be made. There are 3 separate areas of showcasing and directory opportunities available though there are overlaps that need to be understood.
2010 information for the County of Los Angeles Library
It is disappointing that the County of Los Angeles Library has decided, due to budgetary problems, to not hold a live showcase in January. This has been a key way for all performers to demonstrate their programs and meet the librarians who make programming decisions. Dream Shapers will be doing a few things to help artists with regards to this cancellation.
First, we will be producing a directory for all the County of Los Angeles Librarians, just as we have done in the past. Each artist can participate in this directory as they have in the past with a simple directory listing featuring their information, show description and picture. We are also trying to have the same advertising opportunities for artists within the directory as you will read about under the new Inland Empire Library Directory information.
Second, we will be offering an online County of Los Angeles Library Showcase featuring video footage of any artist listed in the directory. The video footage can either be a) footage from the live ILS showcase, b) footage from the studio showcase demonstration (dates will be set up for this), or c) quality DVD footage of no more than 5 minutes provide by an artist (acceptance is based on a review panel). This showcase will be promoted to all the county librarians to use for their artist selection for 2010.
Thirdly, we are working on some additional “in-directory” advertising for artists to participate in. These are the same as what is new for 2010 in the ILS directory.
2010 information for the Inland Library System
ILS will hold their showcase in January 2010 and it will be again at Victoria Gardens Performing Arts Center. We will be producing the standard Directory listing for each artist with picture and information to be distributed at the showcase. There are a couple new additions.
First, we will be offering additional advertising opportunities for artists to provide more information about themselves and their programs. These consist of inside front and back full page cover advertising and a Market Place section that will include full and half page opportunities. These will be a great and cost effective way to get your information out to the librarians in the Inland Empire.
Second, we will be taping the showcase to be posted online at Performershowcase.com with direct links to artist websites. This will be promoted to all the librarians on a year round basis as not only way to see and choose artists but to help additional decision makers (i.e. friends groups) to take part in the decisions.
Third, for artists who are not showcasing, we can use their own quality video footage (accepted by a panel) or artists can participate on our in-studio showcase dates to be videotaped for the internet showcase (both County of LA and ILS).
Fourth, additional discounted advertising opportunities will be offered for Performershowcase.com. This site will be marked year round to libraries, cities, schools and preschools throughout Southern California.
2010 Performershowcase.com
All performers demonstrating at the ILS showcase will be part of the ILS 2010 online showcase. There will be additional advertising opportunities on this site in various categories for artists to consider.
All performers demonstrating can use this demonstration for the County of Los Angeles 20100 online showcase.
All performers not demonstrating can submit 5 o less minutes of a quality DVD demonstration to be included in both the ILS and County of Los Angeles online showcases.
All performers not demonstrating can choose to participate on specified dates in an in-studio videotaped showcase. This footage will then be used online for the ILS and COLA Showcases as well as other opportunities that are chosen.
Conclusion
You can review all the costs for the 2010 ILS and COLA showcases on their applications. PerfomerShowcase.com opportunities will be found under artist information on that site.
